The Burned Castle

On the riverbank stand the ruins of Styresholm, a medieval stronghold where the Vitaliebröderna — river pirates in all but name — made their camp in the 1300s. The castle burned, the men scattered, but the shore at night still carries the sounds of the place: water against charred stone, voices that do not match any boat, and the feeling that something looted was never fully recovered.
