The Red Fort

An ancient hillfort crowns a steep south-west slope, its collapsed stone walls heavy with something older than history. Visitors speak of a curse, of footsteps that echo back at the wrong speed, and of cold that gathers in the ruins on windless afternoons. The fort was built to watch the valley. The valley has not stopped being watched.
