My maternal grandfather was driving through Gallsätter Forest one evening. It was in the early 1840s. When he entered the forest, both shafts fell off. He reattached them, but it was the same story. As soon as the horse moved, the shafts fell off. The third time they fell off, they were even upside down, so the iron fittings were facing upwards. Then grandfather said: "No, thank you Satan. I'm not turning any shafts right for you. It's enough that I'm reattaching them for you." So he sat up, and then off they went in one wild rush all the way to the inn in Härrskog. When he looked then, the shafts were correctly positioned, and they had probably never been wrongly positioned. It was merely an optical illusion created by the invisible powers. That forest has always been strange.

Min morfar körde en kväll över Gallsätterskogen. Det var i början på 1840-talet. Då han kom in på skogen föll bägge skaklarna ifrån. Han satte för igen, men det var lika när. Så fort hästen rörde på sig, föll skaklarna ner. Tredje gången de föll ifrån var de t.o.m. vända, så att skenjärnen var vända upp. Då sade morfar: " Nej, tack Satan. Jag vänder inte om några skaklar åt dej. Dä är nog, att jag sätter för åt dej". Så satte han sig upp, och då bar det iväg i ett enda vilt sken ända till gästgivargården i Härrskog.
