Hauntings in Yttered

It was 50 years ago. Then a 25-year-old man died in Yttered. After this, 'unrest' occurred on that farm. It manifested in such a way that one heard axe blows, as it were, behind the main farmhouse. It was always three blows one after another, the first very strong, the second somewhat weaker, and the third weak. Then there would be a pause of a minute or so, and then three blows would come again. This could go on for up to a whole half hour. Other times there were only a couple of rounds of blows that one heard. But one never managed to hear those sounds if one stood waiting for them, only incidentally, and the people on the farm never heard them, only the people on the neighboring farms. On the spot where the sounds were heard, a farm had previously stood which was moved during the land reform. Initially, it was believed that the hauntings were connected to the death. But when five or six years had passed, something remarkable happened. The retired old woman (födderådsgumman) from that farm which had been moved, died, and then the hauntings moved there. Then people began to suspect that this mystery was connected to the people who had inhabited the old site. And it almost seemed as if that were the case, because those 'spirit manifestations' continued as long as those people lived there. But since they moved and new people came instead, it has been quiet. I also heard those mysterious blows in my youth.
