Headless Specter

In one of the farms here in the village, in my youth, there was a lot of “un-folk” (supernatural beings), and this had been going on for a long time. At night, lights were often seen in the main building. One moment it lit up the upper floor and the next moment the lower. One of my comrades went up to the building to look through the window and see if anything remarkable appeared inside the room. When he got there, something like a flame of light glided down from the window. It sank down to his feet and went out. Some had heard noise in the attic at night, just as if someone had overturned a whole barrel of peas. Others, again, had seen a headless man standing in the barn door. He was wearing only trousers and a shirt. All of this was believed to stem from the fact that they were said to have murdered a traveling merchant at that farm. After the two who were supposed to have been involved in this died, the hauntings at the farm ceased.
