English translation
It was an evening in the summer of 1873. I was going from Gallsätter to Nyland. Before I set off, one of my female acquaintances advised me not to go alone, for she had heard it said that a man's figure usually appeared on one of the hills along the road. Several people had seen it, and it was not a real person but merely an apparition. I didn't care about that and left. Well, guess what! When I reached that hill, high up I saw a man standing on the road, but I didn't let that bother me, and I continued as I had been, thinking no harm. But when I came right up to the man, I got so terribly scared that I almost pissed myself, because then I saw that this could not be natural. There was no head on the man, and he wore a cape so long that his feet were barely visible. Exactly the same as the one others had seen there. They believe that some man was murdered there in former times, and this is his ghost.

Det var en afton på sommaren 1873. Jag skulle gå från Gallsätter till Nyland. Innan jag gav mig iväg var det en av mina flickbekanta, som avrådde mig gå ensam, för hon hade hört sägas, att det brukade visa sig en mansskepnad uppe på en av backarna efter vägen. Flera stycken hade sett den och det var ingen riktig människa utan endast en syn. Jag brydde mig inte om det där utan gick. Jo, gissa på! Då jag kom i den där backen fick jag högst uppe se en karl stå på vägen, men inte brydde jag mig om det där utan jag fortsatte som jag hade det kom inte ont ihåg. Men då jag kom ända inpå karlen, blev jag så oherrans rädd, att jag höll på pissa åt mej, för då såg jag, att detta inte kunde vara naturligt. Det var icke något huvud på karlen, och han hade på en kapprock, som var så lång, att fötterna nätt och jämt syntes. Alldeles precis lika som den de andra sett där. De tror, att någon karl blivit mördat där i forna tider och detta är vålnaden efter honom.
