English translation
There was a farmer and a crofter in Hälsingland who were at odds with each other. Then the farmer fell ill and felt that he was going to die. He then sent for the crofter and wanted them to reconcile, but the crofter was unreasonable and replied: “In hell we shall reconcile.” The same day the farmer was buried, the crofter went for water in the evening. When he rose from the well, the dead man stood beside him, and he had a white cloth in his hand. With this, he struck the crofter over one arm, and it withered from that day on, and the man was never the same again.

Det var en bonde och en torpare i Helsingland som låg i ovänskap med varandra. Blev så bonden sjuk och kände, att han skulle dö. Då sände han bud på torparen och ville, att de skulle förlikas, men torparen var oresonlig och svarade: "I helvetet ska vi förlikas". Samma dag bonden blev begraven, gick torparen på kvällen efter vatten. Då han reste sig upp från källan, stod den döde bredvid honom, och han hade ett vitt kläde i handen. Med detta slog han torparen över ena armen, och den förtvinade efter den dagen, och karlen blev sig aldrig lik.
