For a time it haunted terribly ……….

For a time it haunted terribly in a barn in Haverö. Both the farmhands and neighbors became so used to the hauntings that no one bothered with the ghosts' noise. On the contrary, out of sheer curiosity, they used to go to the barn in the evenings to see what the ghost would get up to that night. The ghost used to amuse itself by throwing around all the loose household items that were in the barn. The objects were thrown from one wall to the other by invisible hands. The owner of the barn had several times tried to get the priest there to read out the ghost, but the priest had declined, stating that he did not believe he possessed the right power. At that time, there was an old woman in Hogdal called Fallpelles-Anna. She was known for her Christian living and therefore believed herself that she would possess both the power and ability to read away the ghost. On her own initiative, she traveled to Haverö and offered to read away the ghosts. Naturally, she was more than welcome to try her power. When she arrived at the barn, she sat down on the milking stool and began to read from the Bible, while the ghost created a commotion around her, but when it finally threw the hayrick standing in the barn over her head, she thought it best to stop reading and hastily leave the barn.
