English translation
An engaged couple, who on a moonlit winter's evening came from a village within Attmar, saw a woman walking on the roadside near a bridge. She was dressed in mourning clothes and carried a hymnbook in her hands. They watched her for a long time, and the whole time she kept her gaze stubbornly fixed on the hymnbook. The following day, the man went to the spot to see if there were any tracks left by her in the snow, but found none.

Ett fästefolk, som en månljus vinterkväll kom från en by inom Attmar, såg i närheten av en bro en gående kvinna på vägkanten. Hon var iklädd sorgedräkt och bar en psalmbok i händerna. De sågo henne en långt stund, och hela tiden höll hon blicken envist fästad på på salmboken. Påföljande dag gick mannen till platsen för att se, om det fanns spår efter henne i snön, men fann inga.
