In a village in Attmar, an old woman was dead and "walked again". She appeared during the day, when the maid in the household met her in the kitchen doorway. After that day, the maid was a little strange in her understanding. At night, however, the old woman was at her best, as she padded through the whole house and did not even shy away from a visit to the farmhands' quarters. One of the farmhands was more than tired of her noise, and when she made more noise than usual one dark winter night, the farmhand, in a fit of anger, took a boot and threw it towards the stove, from where the ghost light came. But to his horror, the boot came back, without falling into the stove. After that, the old woman could have as much as she wanted as far as he was concerned.
