Hässjö, Medelpad
Jutstugan

The Antiquities Register lists it dryly: plats med tradition, L1935:153. A place with tradition. Jutstugan is a cave in Hässjö, and the name means the Jute's cabin — a memory of the Danish raids, when soldiers or fugitives were said to have sheltered in it. Other tellings put something older in there. What is documented is only that the parish has pointed at this hole in the rock for as long as anyone has been writing things down, and has said: something happened here. The register records the tradition without deciding on it. So do we.
