The Gransjö Redoubt

Gransjö skans was raised in the 1600s during the reign of Queen Kristina, set hard against an ancient pilgrims' road that once ran toward the Jämtland border. The garrison was meant to guard the way north; instead the forest slowly took the fort back. Today only stone foundations and low earthworks remain, half-swallowed by spruce and moss. Walk the old ramparts on a still day and the silence feels less empty than waiting.
