The Ghost in Barsta

My father told us children this story many times, always with great seriousness, never in the presence of strangers. I am certain he did not lie:

It was in his youth. At that time, he and a group of other young people were at Näsfäbodarna, celebrating a “long weekend.” In the evening, five of them, including father, decided to go “to the village” to a farm in Barsta. When they arrived and called out at one of the windows, they heard the farm owner's voice answer; they went to another, and then to a third, and everywhere the farm owner's voice answered. It was the same when they went to another building on the farm. So they went to the cabin porch, intending to try to get in that way. As they stood there, they saw a white figure coming from an outbuilding and moving towards them. The figure was much larger than a normal human. They stepped aside; the figure went forward and knocked on the door. It opened, and he went in, after which he slammed the door shut so that the entire house shook. Afterwards, it sounded as if someone was rattling around the entire house up by the wall band. Then they became scared, and it immediately occurred to them that the figure was Jon Persson, the farmer who had died many years ago. It was, moreover, the talk that he would not rest in his grave, because he had hidden smuggled goods in the forest, which he had not been able to reveal before his death. Another group of boys who went to Barsta on the same errand that same night had also been frightened, so much so that they came running back to the sheds as fast as they could. This must have happened about 70 or 80 years ago.
