English translation

This was 20 years ago. One evening, Nils Erik Berglund in Barsta was going "to the village" to Mjällom, where his fiancée lived, whom he, incidentally, later married. When he arrived at Näsmylla, he heard a voice in the forest that said: "Turn back!" He took it to be some boys who wanted to tease him, so he continued on. But a little while later, it called out again: "Turn back!" But he continued as before. However, the third time, it called out right beside him: "Turn back tonight!" The voice sounded so serious and firm. Berglund then lit a match and shone it in the snow towards the direction from which he heard the voice. But he could not discover anything at all. Then he turned around and went home. This was on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, he went to his fiancée. When he came out onto Klocketjärnen, he could not pass, for the path was abruptly cut off by a stream that runs down into the tarn. There had been a thaw and a lot of water in the stream. If he had gone that way during the night, he would most certainly have fallen in and perhaps lost his life. The voice he heard that night was a "warning".
