English translation
I had a brother-in-law in Älgsjö who had peculiar “warnings” preceding him. When he was away somewhere, and this happened often, one heard him come home a good while before it actually occurred. One heard the large bell or the bell-ring jingle, then the conveyance would swing into the yard and stop. Furthermore, one heard him unharness the horse and let the shafts or pole-shafts drop to the ground with a bang. But all of this was only an illusion; only after a while did he truly arrive.

Jag hade en svåger i Älgsjö, som hade egendomliga "varningar" före sig. Då han var bortfaren någonstädes, och det inträffade ofta, hörde man honom komma hem en god stund innan detta verkligen inträffade. Man hörde storklockan eller bjällerringen klinga, så svängde skjutsen upp på gården och stannade. Vidare hörde man honom ta ifrån hästen och släppa skaklarna eller fimmelstängerna i marken så att det small. Men allt detta var endast villa, först om en stund kom han riktigt.
