English translation
There was a farming couple in Bygdom who did not want more than two children. After they had these, the old woman would creep into a sack every evening, feet first, and tie it around her waist, so that the old man and she would not happen to lose their wits in their sleep, for you see, they agreed on the matter. Well, everything went according to plan. They had no more children. But when the old man lay sick and was about to die, he suffered terribly. He thought the bed was full of small children who were pressing him dreadfully. It was believed that these were the children they would have had if they hadn't used the sack. And this is not so long ago but that I knew both of them very well, and their servants told the story about the sack as the full truth.

Det var ett bondfolk i Bygdom, som inte ville ha mera än två barn. Sedan de fått dessa, kröp gumman varenda kväll i en tunnsäck med fötterna och knöt den om livet, så att gubben och hon inte skulle råka till att fördumma sig i sömnen, för si, de var sams om den saken. Nå, allt gick efter beräkning. De fick inga fler barn. Men då gubben låg sjuk och skulle till att dö, fick han det plågsamt. Han tyckte, att det var fulla sängen av småbarn, som klämde honom alldeles förfärligt. Det troddes, att detta var de barn, de skulle hava fått om de inte begagnat säcken.
