The Troll Chair of Fränsta

In the forests outside Fränsta in Medelpad stands one of the region's most peculiar and physically verified natural mysteries. Locally it is called the Troll Chair, or the Giant's Chair — a colossal glacial erratic that has split and weathered until it resembles a perfect monumental chair, complete with armrests and a backrest, standing alone in the wilderness. The old folk tales said it was a resting place for the giants or trolls when they moved through the country. Geologists have been fascinated by the boulder's unique placement and form. For centuries the place has drawn people searching for the hidden beings of the forest. The stone waits. The forest does not explain itself.
