It has been 40 years since old Landin in Ljusta died. After him, there was a terrible haunting at the farm. Much was written about it in the newspapers, and many went there to see it. I myself saw how stones came loose from the wall and were thrown out through the window by themselves. They wondered greatly what could be causing this. Then we both saw that a huge fire was burning in the fireplace in the hall. We stopped and were astonished, because we thought no one lived in that building. Then we saw Landin, alive and well, pacing around on the floor. Every now and then he went to the fireplace and poked at the fire with the fire iron. Then he came to the window and looked out at the road and at us. I recognized him very well by his chalk-white hair and beard. This was the first time anything remarkable was observed at the farm after his death.
